I got an old Compaq CRT. Worked fine through the years that it's been used, and still performs fine with a decent refresh rate and generally no glare.

hey..
recommendations for good 19" LCD? rotating screen.

I knwo some here but any recommendations are appreciatred.

but you'd be hard pressed to find an LCD below 10ms from what I understand (or am I outdated -- entirely likely ). but yah... you need at 20ms below or else you'll probably get ghosting on your screen. which is icky

Yep, you are outdated. Well, don't worry. My mom is in stone age too :P

Naw, my friend has 19 inch LCD with I think 6 or 5 ms response.

And you have to find under 14 to prevent ghosting.

Though I'll probobly stick to CRT untill they don't make 'em no mo.
CRTs have real color and don't change it according to what angle you look it at.

Hey Gren.. i just graduated as an interior designer.. and yu are correct ..all of the firms have switched to lcd. They work just as well with Autocad and other labor intensive proggies.. and they take up so much less space which obviously if you have 80 employes and yu dont need that 'corner' work area for your crt.. t hen you can put your monitor anywhere..as in.. on the 30 inch area width of a desk.. this in turn equals a smaller office space.. which.. in turn.. equals less money for the whole office.. and you would be surprised by how much square footage it saves..

YA I am ready for one too..however.. I dont have the money yet.. but when I do Ill get one that works for ut too.. and at least 19 inch omg!!

LCD are faily cheap nowadays!! and oh yah! forgot you were studying interior design. I think I remember you mentioning that at one point. you know my sis is a successful Interior Designer in NY.

hubby is an artitect.

also, yah, I know all about office space saving with LCDs. we had a big debate on that at our office for a while. ended up with half getting LCDs and half getting CRTs. heh.

VX922 ` $270 and the VX924 ` $395

the 922 has 2ms response time and the 924 has 4ms. The 924 has better color picture i guess. I'd buy the 922 if it was me

most bang for the buck.

and you play UT at 1600X1200 on an LCD? ddannnng how times have changed. lol

(btw, aren't the players too small -- small targets --at 1600x1200? I used to play at that, but my game shot up when I reduced it (1280x1024). took a bit to get used to as I really liked the graphics at 1600... but in the end a balance in fps size beat out the slick and pride factor of high res.

Funny you mention them I just got a LG Flatron L194WTX-BF 19in Widescreen LCD, I didn't know they were korean, I'm just waiting for it to come in to the store I bought it from and I'll be playing again.
I use to have a 15" CRT, but it was old....I think Jesus was alterboy when my old monitor was made

and yah.. lg and samsung...both korean conglomerate giants that make just about everything. lg and samsung compete in LCD pretty fiercely too and lead the world in a lot of those technolgoies (largest screens, newest wahtbveer).

I'm eyeing a new blank samsung 19inch with pivot at 4mms response rate.
