Spam and Spambot protection

Yea, I know. But still unlikely.

GK has done a wonderful job promoting this site so that it ranks very high on Google. With that also come the spam bots. They hit all forums that they find... it's not like our forum is the only one that gets hit.


@GK: If you've just recently updated the anti-bot systems, then I don't think it worked because there is already a user called "phone sell" that's registered and is likely to be a bot.

1. we took a promotion hit. since we upgraded we lost a lot of zoints backlinks and it hurt us. no biggy... just gotta redo some stuff...but it takes time.

2. ya. I updated on 15th...the last bot registration was 14th. so we'll see. I think so far we are clear.

3. I can say confidently, its probably about a 99% chance its a just a random spam bot script as opposed to a person with a grudge. so no worries.

the thing I'm looking into is whether I can double up on our protection systems. also our time coded one is out of date and I'm waiting for the updated.
