yah...total same feel as THIS IS SPARtA! in the preeviews...but it didn't dominate the movie as much as with 300.

I saw it and it was good. beowulf is a classic literary tale...so its not like it could really rip off 300. that line is the only part that has the same feel.

plus...this is playing in 3-D at IMAX!! I'm soooo going. should be hellafun.

more indepth comments:

- more I think about it, the more I am pissed they made grendel so dang dorky.. he could have been freakin bad@ss cool twisted beast man monster.... but nooooo they went with big dorky golem on steroids meets toxic avenger looking.

- VERY interesting intrepretation of the original poem/story. stretches it a lot (to connect the three acts)

interpretation is one thing, but its pretty accepted that Beowulf kills Grendel's mother in the original. that's quite a liberal leap. but hate to say...makes it better and made better story flow to connect motivations of Grendel and the later dragon story (which takes place like 50yrs later).

I didn't realize it was Neil Gaiman doing the screenplay..which makes sooo much sense for how they play it out. Gaiman pwns.
