now rethinking about it a bit more, the style you have on the "Unreal" bit where its cracked etc looks very nice and i would say the things that let it down would be

• The chains are a no no from me
• pretty bland back ground
• and the border around the imaging looks pretty dull as well

How about trying to fix images into the picture, maybe have pictures from both UT99 and the new one. have text in the middle and pictures to the side but have them faded back a bit to empaphise the text

Which background are you referring to? The fading red to black is just for contrast and is NOT part of the actual logo. As for the chains, I was just looking for something to spice it up without getting too fancy. As for adding images inside the inset, I don't think that would be good for a logo. I experimented with multiple patterns and textures, and the fading metallic inset looked the best, IMO. One thing to keep in mind about logos "simple is better." For specific applications, such as a wallpaper or other singular image, a fancier logo works because it can be made to match a theme. But, for instant recognition, a logo should be fairly simple and straightforward. For now, my intent is to get the style, shape(s) and colors that meet the approval of the site admins/mods. Once we have a theme and style chosen, we can spruce it up from there. As for my potential to make something better, sure, I definitely can do that. But, again, this particular version was based upon input I gathered from GK. Again, these are just conceptual images and are not meant to be viewed as final.

ok. srry...was away this weekend... looks cool and good for what it is. and effort is MUCH appreciated

thing is ... the concept is off for me. Its too graffitti, hip-hop to me. doesn't seem very UT / or gaming FPS feeling.

Also, word logo (name is the logo like Dunkin Donuts) is cool for secondary (supportive text or alternate)... but a symbol logo would be ideal to start (like nike, or tsu current one) so it can be used for icons etc as well (even on clan skins) and then font styling used for expanded designs.

In that regard, I think liked your immediately previous design better. it was a little too spiderlike and generic but pretty fookin leet overall and more in the right direction, imo.

again, great job...but I don't think that is the direction we are looking for. anyone else want to chime in? (sorry bro, I dont want to bug and be too critical).

hmmm...maybe a few simple thumbs and we can just choose one to develop fully? that should make it easier and less work and give a more solid direction for ya? (just a thought---trying to make it as low-burden as possible).

That said, I'm still pumped for a new logo/design for the site as I think it will be AWESOME once implemented sitewide and on schwagg and will be a great launch point for upcoming UT3 and this site. So it is not for naught. Hang in there!

weird.. shouldn't be doing that. first I've seenthat problem. I'm using IE7 and lastest FF but can't recreate it.

what browser you using anyway?

That's cool. Fair enough. I was trying to go with something along the lines of the examples you showed me before. I can definitely go with a symbol type logo, which was what I was going with before. I thought you had said you wanted the words written in there. I must have misunderstood you. As for my browser, I'm using FF.

Is this a little more what you want? I wanted to work with this a while back, but I held off after we chatted last time. Anyways, if you guys can come up with some guidelines of what you like and don't like might expedite the process. Anyways, it's perfectly okay by me if anyone else wants to give it a shot.

ah sorry for the confusion.. what I meant was a subtitle or subtext heading ... you know? like UA logo (with like "Unreal Addicts" below it in writing). then we can establish a font for the word as well as th elogo. that make sense? (hard to explain)

as for the design..yah.. like this MUCH better. I think I still ike the spidery design the best though...its got that slick factor. can ya center the UA a bit more and add that super slick styling like you gotz on your other designs? the roughedup look is good in many applications (like expanded banners or wallpapers or backgrounds) but the logo slick sci-fi/tech factor I think I like best.

I will try my hand at it as well ...and yah.... if you want, lets open up a vote/contest or public hand at it? should make it more fun and easier for ya, no? (let me know if not). I think its buried in this thread.

hmmm...that and a signature contest might be good timing now. anyway... great job again. u definately UT design pwnage.
