I missed that.... So all of the people invited from our forums have either had their entries removed or they withdrew? Why did Trail withdraw?

Still not sure why Rama's and Zero's entries were removed, they did nothing wrong according to the rules on the ut3gfx site.

Well Zero entered after the contest was over. So in all fairness the deadline should be honored. He even said he knew he was posting it after the contest ended. His work was awesome though.

I'm just confused here, what about Rama's? He didn't withdraw that did he? and where are Trail's posts, I don't see any of them.

Timing. maybe if ya stepped in earlier.

no idea why trailboss withdrew. didn't see that post either till someone brought it up. no idea why that wasn't mentioned the last 2 weeks if it was know to others. (only notified after the vote started? )

as jenny said, zer0's was after deadline and he didn't even say he wanted it entered in the first place.... I took the liberty of doing so as the vote hadn't started yet. But after some controversy arose from that... as well as the citing sources issue... it was decided better just removed.

Rama's was removed cause of uncredited work issue. He was contact by original author, but after no reply, the issue was turned to me right before the deadline and start for vote, at teh same time other issues/drama about crediting sources were raised... so I had to make a call. Without knowing any more context and with no response from Rama... I felt avoiding potential WORSE situation of continued claims of foul play (esp if they had won) was best, so took it down with a PM of explanation to rama.

I agree with ya Flak... total shame. it sux. they were great entries. but nothing to have done for it. On the margin its just made more sense to deal with couple cuts than couple potential blowups over usage rights and prizes.

Good call? maybe...maybe not. Best call given the situation at the time? well, I dont see I could have made a different one with given info at hand at the time.

History will be the judge...but for now... there are still 10 great entries in it...
so let's just focus on that.

Perhaps we could give some honorable mentions and give some special highlight for the deleted ones....and well, we will have more contests. sooo....

I'm sorry I was unable to respond to the original artist's message or yours in a timely fashion Grendel. My time is stretched pretty thin and before last night it had been a good 3 days since I sat @ my keyboard. I can completely understand why mine was withdrawn. The last thing I wanted to do was cause any fuss or problems; thats not what the contest or the community is all about.

To be honest, I had like 15 minutes to spare when I did that and just PS'ed some stuff together. If I had known that I should have credited what I considered public domain ( it was readily available on the internet using a search engine ), I would have. Like you said, there will be other contests... I just hope that the pic of my kid doesn't stand as an example of my work, because the photo wasn't tweaked, tricked out or even taken with any intent aside from a good personal laugh for myself.

Whatever, life's too short to dwell on it. Be happy, be nice and STFU and play had always been my motto!

I am sorry I had to take it out especialy since as flak said, it WAS wihtin the sites rules. but I understood concerns for credits even if it was a misunderstanding or unintentionally not credited. but still it turned ok and glad you are not pissed or something. mark of character to take it in stride. (ps. yah, I put your son I put in as fun too. I just thought it was cute... and funny to do so)

i agree....it is a shame. i don't know why trailboss withdrew...but he did. so leaving his entry in would not be fair to others.

Yeah man I was unaware of the ut3gfx rules myself, I dont have a problem with the original being replicated but I did feel it was alittle mis-represented in your work.

I honestly didnt want to cause a fuss and I did say that alittle credit for my work would have been nice since I did actually spend some time on that especially coming up with the concept. Like I said though I was unware of the ut3gfx rules when I posted my image up there so I guess this could be my fault. I just stated what I thought to the people running the show and left it up to them to decide.

Honestly I dont see why the official logo wasnt used in its place and I did mention that Im sure, I dont think it would have taken from the work at all. Perhaps thats not what you intended though so I guess I coulda been picky, really though copy/paste doesnt make you owner of an image even if it is public domain. I never mis-represented myself saying that Epic's logo's were mine infact its only the concept of the flags with vctf vs ctf which concerned me even if I did spend some time modifying a few colours of epics logo.

I do think its unfair though to people who created images from scratch or did ask the owners of images to use them when they entered. People would have been taking my work for yours which was the issue for me, not so much that it was used in the contest as I hadnt entered anyway.

Well Ive harped on enough, Im sorry to have caused all this but I feel I did what was right
